Welcome to Meadow Green Nursery

At Meadow Green Nursery, we provide a warm, caring and stimulating environment where every child is encouraged to grow in confidence, independence and curiosity. We believe that children learn best when they feel happy, secure and valued, and we work closely with families to give every child the very best start to their learning journey.

What We Do

At Meadow Green, our Nursery and Reception classes work closely together as part of our Early Years Foundation Stage Unit. Throughout the day, children spend time learning within their own class as well as enjoying opportunities to play and learn alongside one another through shared activities and experiences.

We recognise that every child is unique. Our teaching is carefully adapted to meet each child’s individual needs, helping them to feel supported, valued and confident as they grow and learn.

Building strong relationships is at the heart of everything we do. We place great importance on nurturing positive relationships:

  • between children
  • between staff and children
  • and with our families

We believe that working together creates the best possible start to school life.

Key Information

We place a strong emphasis on developing children’s confidence and independence from the moment they join us.

Children are encouraged to take responsibility for their own belongings, including using their own:

  • coat pegs
  • named trays
  • book bags

Every child should bring:

  • a named water bottle
  • a book bag containing their reading book and reading record
  • a named PE kit

Our Curriculum

In Early Years, we closely follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, which supports children’s learning and development through age-related milestones and experiences.

We carefully plan our curriculum around the children’s interests and individual needs, helping to make learning engaging, meaningful and enjoyable. Last year, our topics included animals, stories, clothes and many other exciting themes.

Children learn through a balance of adult-led activities and child-initiated play. We make full use of our carefully planned indoor learning environment, alongside our beautiful outdoor spaces, to encourage exploration, creativity and active learning.

We use Little Wandle to teach phonics and support children in becoming confident early readers and writers.

In maths, we follow White Rose Maths and NCETM Mastering Number to help children develop a strong understanding of number, counting and mathematical concepts through practical and engaging activities.
