‘Art has the role in education of helping children become like themselves instead of more like everyone else.’
Sydney Gurewitz Clemens, Consultant in Early Childhood Education
At Meadow Green Primary School, we aim to provide the children with the opportunities they need to express themselves and develop their Art skills. Our intention is to give our pupils the chance to draw and doodle very regularly and to link the art they study with their topics to make it relevant. They are given the opportunity to have a go at using colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space through painting, drawing, sculpture and textiles.
Through art lessons, we learn about different artists, their lives and obstacles they have had to overcome to express themselves. This helps to embed the children’s learning, develop their cultural capital and find their own expressions.
