The DfE have reinforced the need “to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and Beliefs” (please view the DfE document below). British values are at the heart of our own aims and values at Meadow Green Primary School. We actively promote British Values through our school policies, our day to day routines and through a wide range of curriculum opportunities.
Democracy
Children’s views are listened to and valued at Meadow Green Primary School. Our Junior Leadership Team take an active part in representing the views and ideas of their peers in meetings with school leaders and governors. They present the points of views of others through pupil voice conferencing and enable children to take an active role in the decision making process to improve provision within and across the school. Children are encouraged to propose worthy projects for our annual charity week and then to vote on the project they wish to support for that academic year.
Rule of Law
Throughout our behaviour policy children understand the rights and expectations of all members of our school community, in terms of the school rules we follow. From their first days in Reception children are taught our code of conduct, the Meadow Green Be’s of:
Be friendly and polite.
Be safe and respectful.
Be hardworking.
Be a good listener.
Be patient.
