Our Values and Learning Behaviours

At Meadow Green, we promote a set of positive values and attitudes that shape our shared approach to life and learning.

We believe children become effective, lifelong learners when they develop a growth mindset — the confidence to embrace challenges, persevere, and keep going when learning feels difficult.

As a school, we focus on developing the 6R learning skills, helping children to become reflective, resilient and motivated learners who understand the purpose of their learning and have a genuine desire to keep improving.

The 6Rs of Learning

At Meadow Green, we use the 6Rs to help children become confident, independent and successful learners.

They are:

• Resilience – not giving up when learning is challenging and learning from mistakes
• Resourcefulness – finding different ways to solve problems and use what we know
• Reflectiveness – thinking about our learning and how we can improve
• Reciprocity – working well with others, sharing ideas and learning as a team
• Responsibility – taking ownership of our learning and our actions
• Respect – valuing ourselves, others and our learning environment

These skills help children understand how they learn best and build the attitudes they need for lifelong success.

Behaviour and Relationships

Our behaviour policy was fully reviewed and redesigned for September 2023, with a strong focus on relationships and our 6R values. This reflects our commitment to helping every child be the best they can “bee”.

We believe that positive relationships between all members of our school community are central to children’s behaviour, wellbeing and mental health. Because of this, building and maintaining strong relationships is at the heart of everything we do.

All children are introduced to our ‘6 Bees’, which support them in making positive behaviour choices. These are not only used to guide behaviour, but also to help children reflect and learn when things do not go as planned.
