The Boards of Governors meet four times a year. There is a Strategic Committee which consists of Headteacher, Chair of Governors and Chairs of the other committees.

There are also committees covering the following areas:

  • Buildings and Health & Safety (Mrs. T. Fernando – Chair)
  • Curriculum & Standards (Mr. J. Marsland – Chair)
  • Finance and Staffing (Mr. H. Swindell – Chair)

As part of our responsibility for ensuring that Meadow Green is a safe, secure environment for its staff and pupils, the governors take an active interest in each area of school life.  By working closely with the Headteacher, the senior leadership team and listening to Staff Views and Student Voice we strive to make the right decisions when addressing the developments and challenges facing teachers and students.  It is also important for us to know how parents feel about the school and we seek out parental views at every opportunity including our Parent’s Forum.

Governors are always keen to seek the views of all members of our school community.

The governors can be contacted at

Copies of minutes from each of the Governing Body Committees are held in the school office.

Dr. C. Whittaker

Hello, I’m Chris Whittaker, retired GP and a long standing Community/Co-opted Governor at school.  I am currently serving on the Finance & Staffing and Buildings, Health & Safety sub committees working closely with the Special Educational Need’s team with the aim of enabling all children to achieve their potential and to develop life skills.

Mr. H. Swindell

Hi, my name is Hugh and I became a Parent Governor in 2015.  My son left Meadow Green, after six years, for secondary school and my daughter is currently in year 3.  Working full time my direct contact with the school had been limited and I hoped that by becoming a Parent Governor I would be able to make a positive contribution to the day to day operation of the school.  I am Chair of the Finance Committee and also sit on the Strategic Planning Committee.

My day job is in Pensions working for a global HR Outsourcing business in the City Centre.

Miss. J. Pettitt

Hello. My name is Jodie Pettitt and I am an English and French teacher at Woodrush High School. I have been a Secondary School teacher since September 2016. Before that, I was a Primary School teacher in Birmingham for four years. I decided to move my career to secondary teaching because I have always had a passion for English which has stemmed from my A Level and Degree Level studies in English Literature.

I have also been Transition Coordinator at Woodrush High School since March 2017.
