The Government initiative of funding sporting activities in Primary schools came into affect 2014/2015 academic year.
At Meadow Green we recognise the contribution that PE and sport makes to the health and well-being of children. We believe that a broad and balanced PE curriculum with a range of extra-curricular activities and access to competitive sport can have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and achievement of all our children.
Last year Meadow Green Primary School was given £9,500 funding to enhance the provision of PE and School sport for all of our children.
Below is a summary of provision put in place and its impact.
FUNDING SPENT: SEPTEMBER 2015 – AUGUST 2016
Meadow Green Primary School, last year, spent some of their funding on Specialist sports coaches delivered a range of clubs throughout the year including football, netball, multi-sports , uni-hockey, cricket , athletics and dance across Key Stages 1 and 2
The total cost for these clubs was £3570.
Increased number and range of sports clubs offered to children across the school ages.
All clubs extremely popular with additional coaches required for some over subscribed clubs. Increasing number of children participating in school based sports
Additional Swimming Sessions (Summer Term)
All children in Year 3 attend swimming lessons during the Autumn and Spring Terms as part of the PE curriculum. During these lessons, all pupils work towards gaining the National Water Skills Award. However any children within Key Stage 2 who do not achieve the required standard at this time are provided with extra swimming lessons in the Summer Term.
Extra swimming lessons & transport costs £1,120. Additional cover for the teacher leading sessions £1500

Additional sessions in Summer term for years 4 , 5 and 6 children who have not met required standard by end of year 3, gives them the opportunity to gain the award This helps them to develop a life long skills.
During the Autumn term pupils in Years 5 and 6 are provided with the opportunity to develop their outdoor and adventurous activities, in the form of water based sports such as Sailing and Kayaking and.
Total cost of £2,200
. By the end of Key Stage 2, pupils will have in excess of 6 hours sailing or kayaking experience
Noticeable improvements in skills and understanding from initial starting points.
Level 5/6 Professional Accreditation Sports/PE -Course
CPD for PE Leader to support staff in increasing high quality PE teaching and learning throughout the whole school. PE coordinator achieves Professional Accreditation in Sports/PE

Increase profile for Sports and PE across the school. Audit of schools strengths and Areas for development identified and used to feed into future use of Sports premium Funding for 2016/17 and 2017/18.
Meadow Green participation in Worcestershire School Sports Events
Attendance and pupil /team representations at Pyramid/ District/ County Sports Events. Including Quad Athletics , Year5/6 sports hall athletics, Year 3/4 sports hall athletics, district cross country and district swimming galas
Engaging Key Stage 2 pupils in at least one inter school event such as Cross Country , Invasion Game festivals
Supply cover for Sports Leader to take groups out to events during the school day £600

Increasing pupils’ participation in Intra and Inter School competition.
Successful results including medals by teams and individuals in district events leading to representation at County Sports Events
All Key Stage 2 children to have competed in at least one inter School competition/event, annually.
